Todd McLeay
Chief Executive Officer
Todd was appointed Smart’s new CEO on 1 July 2019 and specialises in helping organisations optimise their performance in times of change.
His philosophy is that business should focus on delivering effortless experiences to customers. He has previously held sales and marketing leadership roles at Vodafone and NZ Post, was CEO of Lotto NZ and ran an integrated digital design and advertising group.
Michael Mole
Chief Financial Officer
Michael joined Smart in 2022 as Group CFO to bring an Enterprise wide view to Finance following the merger of Earthcare and Smart. Michael has held senior finance roles in operationally focused businesses for 10 years, understanding the importance of close relationships between Operations and Finance. Michael is responsible for Finance and IT platforms, bringing together key support functions for optimal operational outcomes.

Benjamin Day
General Manager – Operations – MBA, MPhil, BAv
Ben has joined Smart Environmental in early 2017 after a decade in senior roles within local government. His last role was as Deputy Chief Executive of the Thames-Coromandel District Council. Ben leads the Municiple and MRF Operations. He is a member of the Senior Management Team and also undertakes projects to mobilise contracts and improve business and customer outcomes.

Blair Griffiths
General Manager – Relationships & Growth – MBA, PGDM
Blair has over 24 years experience in infrastructure contracting and has worked on open space contracts in New Zealand, United Kingdom and America. He is a strong relationship builder, who strives to find the best solutions for clients, the community and the environment. Blair as a member of the company’s Senior Management Team, is responsible for leading the development and execution of Smart Environmental’s long term Municipal Growth and Partnership Strategies.
Jonny Dick
General Manager – Fleet & Systems Manager
Jonny joined Smart Environmental in 2017 looking after our Tasman operations. Following this role he soon moved north to mobilise and lead our Tauranga City Council kerbside glass contract. Jonny now manages Smarts fleet procurement and digital systems driving innovation, compliance and operational efficiency
Komail Sohrabi
General Manager – Commercial
Komail Sohrabi, our General Manager – Commercial, brings extensive experience and strategic vision to Smart Environmental. With around 18 years in the waste and recycling industry, his leadership drives our commercial initiatives, ensuring sustainable growth and exceptional service delivery for our clients. Under Komail’s direction, we are confident in our ability to meet our partners’ needs and expand our market presence. Komail’s primary focus at Smart Environmental is on waste diversion, ensuring that significant amounts of waste are diverted from landfills. His commitment to sustainable waste management practices supports our environmental goals and provides innovative solutions for our clients.
Yuri Schokking
National Resource Recovery Manager – B.Eng
Yuri oversees Smart’s Resource Recovery operations including five Material Recovery Facilities (MRFs) across our network. Before this role, Yuri was the Upper South Island Regional Manager. Yuri has a BE (Forestry) and has significant senior management experience including management of up to several hundred staff and contractors. He has very strong operational, compliance, logistical and technical skills.

Annabelle Numaguchi serves as the Bid & Sustainability Manager at Smart Environmental. With a keen eye for detail and a passion for sustainability, Annabelle leads our efforts in crafting winning bids while ensuring our operations are environmentally responsible.
