JOHN RAE

CHAIRMAN
John is a member of the Institute of Directors and a director of a number of private companies in UK, Australia and NZ. In addition to chairing NZCID John is a member of the National Infrastructure Advisory Board which provides independent advice to the Minister for Infrastructure.

Hamish is an experienced professional director and senior finance executive, currently holding board positions with:

Hamish has also served on boards in the food, beverage and hospitality sectors as well as holding CFO positions in DB Breweries, Tip Top Ice Cream, and Heinz-Wattie.
Hamish is a Chartered Accountant, a member of the Institute of Directors, a member of the NZ Association of Economists, and holds an MBA from Auckland University.

Has held roles across the primary and public sectors as a Director or Chairman since 2005, including roles with-in the waste sector.

Management Team
Mark Lawson (Chief Operating Officer) MBA, B.E
Mark comes to us from Sulo Talbot and prior to this he has worked with Fletcher Building, Auckland Regional Transport, Carter Holt Harvey and Fisher and Paykel. He brings an excellent range of skills and experience in managing and developing best practice national operations.
Nigel Oliver (Northern Regional Manager) ADIP.IE
Nigel is a seasoned Manager with a number of years work in both supply chain and operational fields for Plan-B, Gordon & Gotch, NZ Post/ Express Couriers Ltd, Boise Office Solutions and Kmart NZ. He has a strong team leadership and continuous improvement focus which he will implement in this role.
Blair Griffiths (Central Regional Manager) MBA, PGDM, BPRM
Blair worked for SEL in the Thames and Tauranga branches (Streetsmart) from 2000 – 2004 and returned to the company in 2011. Blair has extensive experience in Parks and Reserves, Solid Waste, Sanitation and Cleansing, gained from 20 yrs industry experience in New Zealand, United Kingdom and America. This has included overseeing many prestigious contracts ranging from 3 central London Royal Parks, to all aspects of grounds and environmental work for 4 very busy London airports and extensive local authority contracts. He has strong knowledge and abilities from both within local authorities and the private sector, working with a strong partnering ethos to the benefit of all parties.
Tim Hodgson (Tasman Manager) Dip. Police Studies
Tim has over 15 years experience working in operational and intelligence analysis roles within NZ Police and Ministry of Fisheries. He is also a trade qualified engineer and builder. He has strong organisational and leadership qualities with a focus on quality customer service and contract management.
Ricci Peyroux (Queenstown Manager) Dip. Man
Ricci has a background of 20 years experience in manufacturing and operations management. In the past 5 years he has been involved with the waste and recycling industry ranging from contract management of kerbside collections to managing a state of the art materials recovery facility.
He has been involved in product development and continuous improvement programmes and is proficient with health and safety, quality and contract performance management. Ricci has a strong commercial focus and is involved in the sales and marketing of commercial services, event management and trading of commodities offshore.
Brent Murgatroyd (Financial Controller) BCOM, CA
Financial Controller since 2008, Brent holds a successful combination of fiscal and operational knowledge, spanning 30 years.
Alicia Glasson (Executive Assistant)
Alicia currently works as the Executive Assistant at Smart Environmental. Her primary responsibility is to help the company achieve its strategic goals through working independently to plan, coordinate and organise projects in association with the Senior Management Team.
George Lowe (Information Systems Manager) BCOM, CA
George has been with the company since 2002. He has extensive experience in delivering innovative financial and information technology solutions to councils and in companies supplying maintenance and contracting services to council and commercial clients.
